Jan12, 2013 ethan saylor was killed.
Here are the links to the articles and blogs I shared in the first year after the death of Ethan about this tragedy:
Followed one month later with: Robert Saylor and You
And the next with: The Silence Frightens Me
Then I broke out of my own shell and shared via the website forum Medium: Justice For Ethan
In the meantime the dust did not settle, over 300,000 people petitioned for an independent investigation and the Gov. denied to take action. The US Dept of Justice began their own investigation. Advocates, and the Saylor family, call for better awareness of differently abled people from our first responders. The official report from the night was released and many tragic moments revealed. The Saylor's have filed a civil suit in order to get the answers they have since been denied.
This last week, at Nearly One Year, I posted.
My words fall between the cracks of so much information, opinions, and advocacy among the press and DS community. But in case, just in case you didn't know Ethan and his legacy...
On his birthday we gave out one last toast. #Toast4Ethan throughout the internet sphere. And my toast is: Toasting to lives that Matter.
At this, I hope to let Ethan rest in peace and focus now on the changes that Patti Saylor and her family are fighting for as well as fighting for the safety and dignity of my own son and everyone who is differently abled.
